The Use of Poetry/Songs in Teaching/Learning English
Basically, in my opinion, using poetry and music to study or teach English is not only a viable option but also a necessity for us. Why is it required? Because learning a language involves more than just knowing grammar rules and vocabulary. Yet it's also how we preserve the language's authenticity and originality. Where can we find authentic or reliable text for maintaining language learning? Indeed, it is a literary reference. like poetry, song, and all other works of art. One of the most popular literary genres in everyday life is poetry, which can be used authentically in a variety of fields to deliver messages and significant significance. We can demonstrate how to use English more forcefully with poetry. The skills of learning English (Reading, writing, speaking, and listening) can be connected to poetry. We will learn how to communicate our ideas, feelings, and thoughts in a clear and concise manner. The poetic elements—rhyme, figurative language, imagery, rhythm, etc.—help us improve our English proficiency.
Similar to poetry, songs are among the most popular literary forms today. Music is fun and greatly aids in enhancing, supplying, and adding new vocabulary. Also, it aids in the development of our reading, speaking, and writing skills. So that we can enjoy learning the English language rather than making it a chore. We learn best while we are having fun, after all. Thus it's a wise choice to use music as a teaching tool. Singing or listening to music might help us generate the proper shapes in our mouths and produce these sounds clearly since when we first learned English or another new language, our mouths aren't used to creating those unique sounds.
