Have you ever listen about Intensive Reading? For the first time I listened to this name, I was thought about Reading Intensively with a great focus. Apparently, not only that. Intensive reading is to read with full concentration and complete focus. This type of reading is required for learners reading text to develop their reading skills. It's not about how many books or articles you read in a day. Even if you’re reading a single-line quote, you should try to understand what the words are actually trying to convey. The goal of this type of reading is to understand all the language and details of what we are reading.

Intensive reading can develop to get a better understanding of information. When you have to read a report for work, for example, you can’t just skim it and call it a day. You have to get a deeper understanding of what was written and evaluate the results to make sense of it. Intensive Reading also helps you overcome complex texts. You’ll be able to develop your reading comprehension, vocabulary, and language skill.

It means that intensive reading helps us to focus on the accuracy of the text. The benefits of intensive reading include enhancing reading comprehension, helping us to develop critical thinking by reading it carefully.

This is an activity that requires great mental effort and focuses. Because sometimes intensive reading makes us feel bored or burnout. So, when we wish to read intensively, we must take care to read texts that are interesting and short. Why must be interesting? Because if we don't enjoy what we read, we’ll forget the context quickly. And why it is must be short? Because the goal of this activity is to understand the text clearly. source

Intensive reading is done at a slower pace and more carefully. To do this effectively, here is the steps:

Think about why you are reading, and what you need from the text.

Skim the text to get an overview.

Note the words and phrases which occur frequently and are important to know.

If a particular part of the text is more difficult, read it again and ask yourself questions about it. source

To make easy, Intensive reading materials include:

  1. News article.

We need to read the news article intensively, to prevent misunderstandings and create other hoaxes.

  1. Blog post

The blog post is one of the ideal learning materials for Intensive Reading because Blogs are rarely written long.

  1. Articles

Same as the blog posts, articles offered with many kinds of interesting topics. We can read it intensively while amusing ourselves.

  1. Tweets

As a youth, I used to surf on Twitter a lot. and I see many misunderstanding phenomena from trivial things like jokes to big things that are quite fatal. That’s why tweets include the ideal material for intensive reading for me. But actually, not only Twitter. Social media or chatting platforms can't escape this fact too.

So, the conclusion of this a brief description of Intensive Reading is "The type of this reading skill is important for our daily life. Considering we live as social beings, and need to communicate well one of them by writing and reading". The last but not least, Thank you very much for reading^^
